The Secure Office Client lets you use your smart card for desktop PKI services.
PKI is the business enabler of our time! The entire whirlwind of new commerce and opportunities is based on user authentication.
The ability to digitally identify not only a server but a legally
responsible user. Firm authentication is made possible with the
use of RSA keys, the strong encryption keys, carried on a smart
card, that are the namesake of PKI (Public Key Infrastructure).
Working through your standard web-browser, SOC enables you
to authenticate yourself to a secured web-site,
authenticate the source and integrity of your mail and execute legally-binding digital signatures with whatever smart card you use.
With support for the industry standards, PKCS#11,
MS-CAPI, GSS API and IDUP GSS API, SOC also enables you to secure
custom, third party applications such as large accounting and ordering
systems.
